Guy Berger
I've been thinking of picking some of these up... interested in folks' opinions. Ravi Coltrane, Spirit Fiction Rudresh Mahanthappa & Bunky Green, Apex Chris Potter, The Sirens Chris Potter, Imaginary Cities
jlhoots
The only one I have is Apex. It's very good.
Rooster_Ties
I don't know the Ravi disc specifically, but I love his tone, and I see it also has Ralph Alessi (trumpet) on some tracks, which is usually a big plus. FWIW.

FWIW. I saw him in Chicago last fall with Orrin Evans. Liked him better on soprano than tenor. Of course that was live versus the CD. Thought he was really, really good on soprano (and nothing like his dad). 4 hours ago, Guy Berger said: I've been thinking of picking some of these up... interested in folks' opinions. Chris Potter, The Sirens Chris Potter, Imaginary Cities Note that allmusic.com puts Cities higher, both from the critic and the users - and a fairly high number of user ratings for both. CJ Shearn
I haven't heard "Spirit Fiction" in quite awhile, but it's very good, cerebral. Ravi is excellent on Jack DeJohnette's "In Movement".
LWayne
I would also rate "Cities" by Chris Potter much higher than "Sirens", but I enjoy both. I have all the CDs that you mention. "Apex" is probably the best due to my admiration for Bunky Green. "Science Friction" has not really made much of an impression on me.
