JSngry
Yeah, I can't say that I've ever heard Alan Dawson be a/the problem. That cover of Dexter Calling needs to be viewed while on a good buzz to be fully appreciated, imo. Those colors, that look (eyes, ears and hair, Dexter was always ready for the camera!), that coat, that phone booth...buzzzzzzzzed! Q: Hello, stoned jazz listener here, how can I help you? A: Hey there, Dexter calling, and I believe it is I who can help YOU!
JSngry
Yeah, see, this would be of no help whatsoever.
mjzee
From the liner notes to "Homecoming":
JSngry
If I got a call from Dexter, I'd never wash my phone again!
Gheorghe
Same here. And yes I remember the liner notes on homecoming. Dexter had that thing, the way he announced to tunes, the musicians, and I think a part of it was a mild manner of puttin on the audience, just in that nice and funny way. Like when he announced Benny Green´s simple blowing vehicle "I want to blow now". Now we all know that this is nothin more than a blues riff....., but Dexter announced it as "the very very IMPORTANT COMPOSITON, written by the very very .........slippery...... trombonist.....Benny Green, and this one is called " I ..... want...... To BLOW........ NOW"- When we were kids we used to try to imitate the way he talks considering it "super cool".....
