Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band -  CDR of a one hour radio broadcast - July 1968, Stuttgart. 1968 seems like it was the peak year for this excellent band.

Excellent performance - but also the year thereafter they were still in best shape ;) .... :

Several felicitous pairings this morning:

Oscar Peterson Trio & Milt Jackson - Reunion Blues (MPS)

Count Basie / Zoot Sims - Basie & Zoot (Pablo / OJC)
Basie's minimalism -- "Splank!" -- with Zoot's luscious sound really works well.

Cecil Payne & Duke Jordan - Brooklyn Brothers (Muse / Elemental)

George Mraz Trio - Plucking and Bowing (Progressive)
Does anyone know the story on this recording?  It appears to have been recorded in 1978 but not released until 2016. I wonder why.

I'm listening via YT, so I don't have access to the liner notes.

The Rearward/Schema reissue of this one is definitive. Fantastic sound job.

Incidentally, they flew Wolfgang Hirschmann out to record it and provided the great Adrian Kerridge of Lansdowne fame as his assistant !  Talk about A-Team..
