Gaslini Plays Monk

A tad too percussive and built to my taste, but still great fun to listen to.

The Bud Shank Quartet - Jazz at Cal-Tech

Except from the drums on Side 1, I liked the record a lot!

Randy Weston - How High The Moon

Mozart Piano Concertos 20&23 / Barenboim and the English Chamber Orchestra

First time I hear the 23rd and the  Adagio is beautiful!

Indeed!

One of the all time great organ records.

Much though I love Baby Face Willette, and play all his albums a great deal, AND idolise Fred Jackson, his Blue Notes aren't as good as the two he made for Argo. There's nowt better than 'Behind the eight ball' in my view. Have a listen to 'Song of the universe'.

A pleasant way to ease into some holiday music since this disc has no worn out, overdone songs or carols.  All of the material was newish (as of 1991 when this album was recorded) and only 2 of the 12 tracks could be considered somewhat familiar -- "A Christmas Love Song" by Johnny Mandel and the Bergmans and "Christmas In The City" by Jay Leonhart.  Ms. Dearie gives sensitive, yet not saccharine, performances on all the songs here.  With Mike Renzi, Jay Berliner, Jay Leonhart and Grady Tate.
