Scott Colley - The Magic Line (Arabesque)
trio with Chris Potter & Bill Stewart

For the decade or so that Arabesque was in the jazz game, they released some outstanding music.

Arabesque still releases jazz, just not as frequently.  The most recent Arabesque Jazz release was from November of last year.  They have an impressive catalog.

Now playing:

Stone Alliance - Live in Amsterdam: The only Grossman I have and the only recording I have with Don Alias on trap drums.  Fun, muscular stuff.

Oh. I wasn't aware.

BTW: That Stone Alliance disc looks interesting. Have you heard their self-titled debut?

I was listening to this CD last night.  Shortly after dusk, while the sky was still rusty gold, but with darkening tints of blue leading up to the oncoming indigo skies, when the air was still warm, but there was a cooling breeze which stirred the trees, right then is when this version of "Summertime" came on:

One could not have asked for a better soundtrack for that moment in time . . .

Sarah Vaughan is always great , but what I noticed most is the "Heads of State". I have both albums of them, since each of the players, especially Al Foster as one of my favourite drummers, they all are fantastic musicians. I had hoped they will do a third album
