A wonderful disc. With Joseph Reinhardt et son ensemble playing a wonderful version of Sweet Georgia Brown titled Douce Georgette. I read in the liners that under the nazis Jewish and American songs were forbidden, but they put a slight veil on them, a different title and played them anyway. To much success. They also point out that during the war the musicians had a lot of work. Something that seems contradictious.

George Shearing in his autobiography mentions his many gigs during the London blitz. As a blind man he was, of course, excused the military service that took many others off the scene.
