Spun a few LPs this morning, vinyl is sounding good to me these days due to an important change.

First, an old favorite, bought the LP about '75 or so and still have it, still plays nice and quiet.

Chick Corea, "Return To Forever"

Then Dave Brubeck "Jazz Impressions of Eurasia"

The drum solo featured on this one sounded amazing!

Then on to a new 2 cd set that arrived--I used to have this from the collectors' circuit but it didn't sound like this!

Sal Nistico "Live at Carmelo's" Fresh Sound, disc 1

After that this one caught my eye in the shelves. . . .

Tania Maria "Nouvelle Vague" WestWind cd

And now, just fished out of the mail, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers "Just Coolin'" Blue Note cd

Listening to "Rough and Rowdy Ways" lately had me wanting to revisit "standards" Dylan so I spun disc 3 of this set. I really like these albums.

Bob Dylan "Triplicate"

Then because it was still near the turntable I put on Duke Ellington's "My People" again (mono, Contact LP version). This "show" is so timely now and so moving to me, Ellington just amazes me. The LP just has such an impact as well with the voices and the percussion so vivid--the tap dancing dances around my room.

Joya Sherrill sounds so good on this lp.

Then. . . I had to have more Duke.

Duke Ellington "In a Mellotone" RCA LP

This CD version also includes The Carnegie Hall Concert.

I haven't heard My People in a long while.  Thanks for the prompts, jazzbo.

... but now you've got me wanting to hear the original, mono LP release -- which I don't have.  Ellington-ophilia is a never-ending condition!  ;)
