Justin V
I think this is only my second time listening to this. I am buying less and diving deeper into my collection.

Rabshakeh
Jim Hall / Ron Carter Duo - Alone Together (Milestone, 1972) A weird but lovely one. I find Jim Hall's playing substantially developed from his more well know '50s sideman dates. The duo's not a combination I would have expected to work but it really does. Carter and Hall are really sympathetic to each other's style. Donald Byrd - Kofi (Blue Note, 1972) Probably my favourite Lew Tabackin ever on record. He, Horace Parlan and Frank Forster make this record really good. I find that the decline in Byrd's powers was already getting obvious by this point, but I like that he keeps it simple and gives others the space. Justin V
I am thinking of Keith Jarrett after reading the sad NYT story. This is still probably my favorite Standards Trio album and the first one I heard.

jazzbo
"Quartet Live" Concord Records cd, Gary Burton/Pat Metheny/Steve Swallow/Antonio Sanchez Meh. I'd like it better if it were a Burton Trio album. Followed by Paula Morelenbaum "Berimbaum" This is a favorite, and after some recent tube and settings changes, sounding better than ever! Modern and layered and dance invoking. Followed by Thelonious Monk, "Brilliant Corners," Keepnews Edition cd. Been too long. I just love this wild take of "Bemsha Swing" with Clark Terry and Sonny Rollins. Those two should have recorded over and over together!
