After finally getting around to Art Deco a few days ago after it had sat for 2 or 3 years in a pile waiting to be heard, I'm on a Cherry run today.  I've listened to Art Deco, Symphony for Improvisers, Brown Rice and now this.  I also spun Ornette's To Whom Who Keeps a Record and Charlie Haden's The Montreal Tapes, Vol. 2.  Complete Communion and Jim Pepper's Comin' and Goin' have also seen play.  While having a large collection means that albums can be neglected, it also makes binges possible. :)

Check out the ‘Cherry Jam’ on Gearbox !

Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers - Reflections in Blue (Timeless, 1979)

Excellent late-period Blakey!

oh yes !!!!, those two are Wonderful. "Korner" actually was the first Blakey I bought. It came out in late spring 1978 so it was out after very short time.

Reflection in Blue from 1979: That´s the band I saw live: Valery Ponomarev , Bobby Watson, Dave Schnitter......

1979 or early 80 was the first time I saw Blakey as well, I think. Recollections are hazy but Bill Hardman might have been on trumpet but Watson and Schnitter were there. They played quite a bit from ‘Gypsy Folk Tales’.
