Forgive me, more Blue Note this morning:

Larry Young with Byard Lancaster, George Benson a some folks I'm not so familiar with: Ed Gladden, Herbert Morgan and vocal track from Althea Young. I really enjoyed this album. Young's playing here takes an esoteric turn at times and he plays some really engaging melodies. The Discogs listing shows a total of 6 legit pressings. If that's the case, then this, to me, is an underappreciated classic. :tup

Interesting line up with Silver who's playing with Woody Shaw, James Spaulding, Tyrone Washington, Larry Ridley and Roger Humphries. Another excellent record. Every time I hear Horace solo on this, I think about how he didn't record enough trio dates. Hell, maybe he should've been the one to do the Peanuts albums (no offense to VG as I'm a fan). Master tapes of this one are long gone, so its post-Liberty LP pressing are all CDs. But there's an 8-track out there...

And now:

Such a grooving record this is, and in interesting history regarding some issues having a couple of stereo alts. My UCCQ CD is in mono and lacks those alts that the Conn issue included. No big deal, but one day I'll probably snag that other copy.

Herbert/Herbie Morgan might take some doing, but the relatively few records he's one are all gems.

Ed/Eddie Gladden is all over the place, or was once he started getting the profile from the Dexter gig. You can follow his trail with confidence and no a lot of difficulty. Truly, a truly great drummer.

Enjoy!
