Ufff, the sound of the soprano sax gets on my nerves here and there, although not to the point that it happens with Coltrane. And I have to recognise it is yet another excellent interpretation of Monk’s music, which we all love.

Feel you .... at the same time Steve Lacy`s soprano sound from the around mid eighties onwards got rid of some edges without losing poise - quite in the contrary ....

I doubt you can get the Msomi but it's uneven. Some tracks are great, others have a whining female vocal group. Even I don't like those tracks :g

The Holmes is bloomin' fantastic. John Fourie worked for a long time in the USA and knows both kinds of music. He was the fuzz guitarist on Earland's 'Intensity'.

The Cliffs album is very good. Coltrane's influence on Mankunku is pretty clear, which is a downer to me, but probably not to most people here.
