This 2005 trio album (with bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Ari Hoenig) is my introduction to pianist Simona Premazzi. She's damn good.

Re: Rob McConnell & Woods

At least my album cover shows Phil. He sees to have been erased from yours!  Not a cap in sight!

Ahh no. Look at the frontcover right side. Very clear print "featuring Phil Woods"

Collectors Choice CD by arranger Bill Potts. Superb session by one of the most amazing big band lineups ever. Both Marky Markovitz and Bernie Glow in the trumpets !

Same LP/CD but the japanese vinyl edition

Any one who is a fan of post-swing era big bands would be well advised to pick up any CD you may find from any of the US military service bands.  I've never been disappointed by any of the ones I have listened to.  They all have some creative arrangements and many excellent musicians.  On this disc, they even manage a listenable version of "Little Drummer Boy".  I cannot help but mention that the band manager is listed as CMSgt Dudley Hinote, who ironically, plays bass trombone.

Can only agree.  Have on vinyl & CD's the Comodores (Navy), Airmen of Note ( Air Force), The US Ambassadors (Army) and enjoy them all.

These are all professional musicians partly found later after the service in  other bands.

Here is a selection

US Airforce just the way we are Airmen of Note            US AIRFORCE  41463

US Airforce The TAC Jazzband                   US AIRFORCE          20785

US Airforce Airmen of Note today     1978  US AIRFORCE          83078

US Airforce better than ever   1983  US AIRFORCE      41777

US Army     The Jazz Ambassadors-US Army Field Band                    US ARMY    -

CD      US Army Blues      The Army Blues Enseble "An Evening in Concert"                   Military Music com

CD      US Army Blues      The Army Blues Emsemble "25th Anniv. Concert"                   Military Music Com

CD      US Jazz Ambassadors    The Legacy of Sammy Nestico The Queen Bee"            Military Music Com

CD      US Jazz Ambassadors    The Legacy of Benny Carter "Brothers"                   Military Music Recor

US Navy      The Comodores - US Navy Jazz ensemble             US NAVY 1000

Treasure trove ....

I received it from Nils Winther some fifteen years ago, as a generous gift in return for certain discographical info I provided him with.
