I've decided that I'm going to have "A Day of Diz" -- nothing but Gillespie all day long.  :g 

Now spinning:

The first disc captures the band in 1968 and the second disc is from 1962.  As usual, the LRC packaging is shoddy and careless -- but the music is terrific, especially the 1968 set.

It's a bit messy but has an atmosphere. Gardens was quite an early purchase for me so it's held dear. 

now on something somewhat different.  I was hoping it would be a bit more noir than it is

Agreed on that. He was still on drums I think in a Gillespie Reunion/Tribute Big Band I saw in the 90s but will have to check. As was Billy Root  ! (In the saxes)
