This was a good day. . .Lucinda was off from Wednesday til today and I didn't get to listen much. I listened as much as I could today. I finished up the day of listening with a clean modern recording that was a bit polite but had some great late Joe Williams singing on it, Milt Jackson "The Prophet Speaks"

And wrapped it up with a beloved recording that is the opposite, a swamp of sound and exploration, Miles Davis "Bitches Brew," this time the Mobile Fidelity SACDs.

Some lovely ballad-playing to be heard here:

french-ballads-remastered.jpg

@jazzboIs that Dexter from Amsterdam Paradiso the one with Han Bennink on drums ? I have it with another cover. Is it the one with that slow version of Good  Bait ? The strange thing is that on the last occasion I saw Dexter live in 1983 he played that slow version of Good Bait, really very very long version, the last time I saw and heard Dexter live, just in the period when he celebrated his 60th Birthday.

@ghost of mileswow, the cover of french ballads. I´m not so much into the album covers I´m too much into the music, but let´s say "Cool Struttin´" also was one of my favourite album covers.....

This recording seems to get a new cover almost every time it's reissued. I have it on its first CD incarnation (1989):

Thanks for your review.

This Bill Evans is a "hard to get" Item at a reasonable price I've found out.

So it will take  some time to find a source or live wothout it.

These were reissued just recently (as "jazzbo" mentioned earlier) in Japan and are available via reliable source CDJapan for rather decent money ....
