Posted 29 June Can't let go of this one. Very "complete within itself". Compositions and arrangements bot fully developed, not sketched out. The humor is subtle, not broad, and the use of the instrumentation (including organ as ensemble color, not just soloist) is about as skilled as it can be. Posted 30 June (edited) WP Charles Tolliver's Paper Man, NP Ted Curson's Blue Piccolo. This Curson album is from '76 with McBee, Jim McNeely and Jim McCall (Curson & the 3 Mc's?). First time I've heard this and I like it. On the Whynot label and first released in Japan. No US release until '82 on India Navigation. And not only the music, it´s the cover that´s great, and the liner notes is also great to read. I have only superlatives for that album and that Quartet.
