Both albums arranged and conducted by Jimmy Jones.

They went to high school together with tenor man Eddie Johnson.

I did not know that.  Reading the very small print on the reproduction of the back album cover for Sentimental & Melancholy included on this CD I found this:  Both teamed musically for the first time at Joe's thirteenth birthday party when he publicly gave his first solo performance accompanied by Jimmy on the five string banjo.

All tracks were recorded for MGM, and only two are also on the Verve double CD.

There were at least three of the Roulette Lps on CD, süme with previously unreleased bonus tracks. Is there no Eckstine thread?

I listened to this somewhat recently after reading Haruki Murakami's Pinball, and the protagonist was listening to the live version of "Jumping with Symphony Sid" and whistling along with Getz's solo.

So, how is this? (I've long admired Reggie's playing, not as much as I admire Steve Cropper's or Tommy Cogbil's, but still a lot)

This is the review that got me interested. Not meant to be earth-shattering, but pleasant.
