The trio does not try to play like Bill Evans, but rather to bring a spirit to the session that shows their respect for him and his music.

Though 2 members of the trio have a lengthy history with Evans, Moroni has his own personal approach that balances the Gomez and LaBarbera experience. A good and very interesting recording.

Prime material from the stockpile. All of the ambient sounds -- people talking & laughing right along with the music (including Duke!) -- only adds to the you-are-there vibe.

I love that whole series.

Archie Shepp and the Full Moon Ensemble - Live at Antibes (Fuel 2000). If it weren't for the brass soloists (Al Shorter and Clifford Thornton), I might ditch this one. But they're so good....

Woody Shaw - Bemsha Swing (BN). I miss Geri Allen.
