To me, Bill Evans' recordings for Verve are very "hit-or-miss," especially compared to the music he released on Riverside and Fantasy. That said, I think these two LPs are BE's strongest Verve releases -- and it's Shelly Manne's presence that lifts them.

I just realised that these two albums bookended my Bruce purchasing

I always thought Tunnel of Love was underrated.

I came to that conclusion today. Some of the 80s production gets in the way but the songs are pretty strong.  Can't remember what I thought of it on release. I do remember the gig on the tour was great

Someone on the BN Board or here recommended this to me when I was looking for some Hilton Jefferson. (Joe comes to mind, but I'm not certain who it was.)  Anyway, whoever it was, you have my thanks every time I play this wonderful recording.
