Colin Dexter, Creator of Inspector Morse, RIP

Recommended Posts

RIP (unusually, I saw a copy of the physical NYT and read the obit before seeing this thread). I read and enjoyed many of the Inspector Morse novels. Also watched a number of the BBC TV episodes (John Thaw as Morse). I share the enthusiasm for (British) cryptic crosswords

Morse was a relatively complex character with some rather noticeable character (shall we say) imperfections.

I was surprised when I read this obituary. For some reason, I thought that Colin Dexter had passed away some time ago, around the time that John Thaw, who played Morse in the TV series, died. For what it's worth, I liked the books very much when I read them, and thought that the television version of Inspector Morse was well done.

Thanks, Mr. Dexter.
