Tuesday, April 4 at 6:30 Dan Giacobassi plays Claude Bolling’s “Suite For Flute and Jazz Piano” with pianist Steve Talaga at the Walker Memorial Library, 1522 Ruddiman Dr, North Muskegon. This famous classical/jazz hybrid is schedule in Jazz Appreciation Month. Information from (231) 744-6080.

 

Friday, April 7th at 7:30 p.m., the Columbian jazz harp master Edmar Casteneda performs at Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts, 101 Maple St, Manistee in a concert produced by West Shore Community College. Casteneda’s music comes from the traditional joropo ballroom dance music of Venezuela and Columbia, as well as tango, Brazilian, Flamenco and West African Kora music.  Dig! Phone: (231) 398-9770.

 

Monday, April 10th at 6 p.m., in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, Checkers Morton makes music in Hackley Public Library, 316 West Webster, Muskegon. Monday, April 10th at 7 p.m. 8 string guitarist Charlie Hunter leads his trio at The Tip Top Deluxe Bar and Grill, 760 Butterworth St. SW, Grand Rapids. His new album, released in July, 'Everybody Has A Plan Until They Get Punched In The Mouth', has a title referring to a quote by heavyweight boxing champion Iron Mike Tyson.
