Hardbopjazz
Today I went to a local vinyl record store. All the jazz records were blocked by small crates of cassettes. The store own said, he purchased someone's private collection of live music, Most were rock, and about 30% were jazz and blues. There were over 5000 cassettes. I perused some of the crates. I did come across two Dave Brubeck broadcasts, and a Joe Henderson/Freddie Hubbard audience recording. According to the store owner, the recordings go back to around 1970 and there have been a lot of customers buying the tapes. This made me wonder how collections are out there, and how many possible amazing and important recordings there may be lying around in someone's basement or attic. I passed on these. I have too much music as it is, coupled with my cassette deck hasn't been powered up in years, and may not work. Plus to go through all of these containers will take hours. Hardbopjazz
I have to spend a few hours going through what is there. Anything that catches my eye in terms of jazz or blues, I will consider. This gut wants 5 dollars a tape.
Dan Gould
Might have the rest of that Gene Harris trio set. Or Hank at the Angry Squire (?).
