Billy Eckstine w/Bobby Tucker Quartet

3 posts in this topic

Is this everything from this date/sessions/project/whatever?

  • Tenderly
  • One For My Baby
  • If You Could See Me Now
  • Smoke Gets In Your Eyes
  • Laura
  • Mister, You've Gone And Got The Blues
  • Ill Wind
  • April In Paris

Bobby Tucker, Barney Kessell, Red Callender (iirc), & Lee Young...a pretty remarkable set, actually, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything from it.

Interestingly, perhaps, at one point packaged by MGM as a "programme", almost a "concept album". https://www.discogs.com/Billy-Eckstine-Tenderly/master/991828

Here's the one that has been messing me up for about a week now, convention at once fully embraced and totally defied + breath control out the ass. Breath control, phrasing, pitch, time, every damn thing, stick around for the last note,  BILLY ECKSTINE!!!!

Thanks for confirming. I'd be quite happy if more turned up, but that seems unlikely at this point.
