Don't know. The only vinyl I but these days is used stuff.

Actually I was referring to used records indeed (and therefore to what one might be likely to find at best value for money as a tradeoff of quality/price/availability). I don't expect to see this item (or items like this) in any new VINYL reissue programs. But I was hoping you (or somebody else in the US, maybe?) might be closer to the market than I may be over here.   I am not sure Discogs is fully reliable here. According to them a Boplicity reissue (UK) would be the onyl vinyl reissue. I cannot recall having ever seen that (I would have grabbed it - after all those praises in the WCJ books), but I don't recall having ever seen it as a vinyl OJC either. So ...? Just wondering ...

I guess you're right, Jim.

I just meant that it was made available for a second time in the early 70s by Contemporary, and that particular issue wasn't an original -- and therefore more expensive -- pressing.

On a related note: It's a bit surprising that this recording wasn't reissued (! :) ) as an LP in the OJC series.  (It was only available as a CD -- at least according to discogs.)

Big Beat Steve,

According to discogs, there was an early-70s Contemporary reissue of this LP in the US.

Might be worth investigating. I've never heard that particular reissue, so I can't remark on the sound.

An early '70s "reissue" would have been mastered by Les Koenig, claimed to be the best lacquer cutter on the West Coast, and the label owner. These were all hight quality pressings.  This is where reissuing and repressing becomes really confusing for folks not in the biz.
