This is likely the theme song for far too many folks this year --

I first discovered this song on a 1993 various artists disc called A Cabaret Christmas.  On that, Gerry Mulligan recorded his own version of this song (which he co-wrote with Ms. Holliday), both as musician and vocalist.  He rarely recorded as a vocalist, so I was delighted to find that track.  It wasn't until later that i discovered this previous version.  Knowing about it, and about Mr. Mulligan and Ms. Holliday's relationship, now adds a whole big layer of poignancy to Mr. Mulligan's later recording.

Yesterday and today - these nice compilations were recommended to me after I ask for something of that kind here on the board, and they have become an indispensable part of my Xmas playing list. Thanks again!

It’s an annual compilation disk that is put together by Jonny Trunk. This year, everything from the US Air Force Dance Orchestra with vocal harmony group Free Design from 1968 (nice) through to Larry Grayson singing ‘Whose Stuffing Your Turkey This Xmas’ plus what seems to be some oddball German folk stuff in there as well. ;)

I'm not familiar with Marc Martel, but I like this duet with Amy Grant.

A Christmas tradition with me is to listen to Leonard Lopate's Gospel Christmas Show on the radio. As usual, he played the great African American artists of the past, MARION WILLIAMS (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) , Mahalia Jackson, Shirley Ceasar etc...

Rhoda sings on a couple of tracks... not terribly effectively in my view. Caveat emptor.
