Thanks for bringing this to our attention. [Import CDs current price.]

I'll be picking this up at some point. (Still haven't purchased the newly restored Fletcher Henderson set!)

Do the new transfers add much to the NORK 2-CD set from Retrieval  Records that John R.T. Davis produced back in 2001?

Unless proved wrong, I am sticking with that one....

This one. (Maybe "newly restored" isn't the term I want. Newly remastered?)

I’ve got that just two weeks ago. The sound is great. I recommend it.

With new transfers from restored original source discs by Doug Benson. Rivermont/Off The Record (David Sager) collaboration.

Whoa!  I have the Retrieval edition referred to above, but hard to take a pass on something with any kind of Off The Record involvement... I'll probably get. Thanks for the heads-up.

Just got this in the mail today—the sound is amazing. (I’ve only listened to disc 1 so far, but can’t imagine there’ll be a dropoff in quality on disc 2.)  Excellent booklet, too; I’d say this is my favorite reissue/historical release of the year, or at least neck-and-neck with Mosaic’s Savory set.

Listening again this Sunday morning, and the sonic detail and clarity of this reissue is stunning. This set is really deepening my appreciation for NORK, and the notes on both the band and the recordings are well-researched and insightful. Highly recommended for anybody with an interest in early jazz.

I agree with all of the above (and I downloaded it).

I love the transfers and the restauraties. The sound is warmer than on the Retrieval.

My package from ImportCDs finally arrived.  Unfortunately, they sent me "Rhythm and Blues Christmas" instead of the NORK set.

The samples on line sounded great, even on my phone.  I was really looking forward to hearing them tonight.  Sigh....

Agree totally with Allen. I liked the Davies effort, but this one blows it away...imho.

Just a warning - if you dispose of the Retrieval package you lose the 6 titles by Paul Mares and his Friars Society Orchestra from 1935. I am not sure these are available elsewhere.

I noted this as well--was already planning to hang on to the Retrieval edition anyway.  Thanks for the heads-up.

I would very much like this set but I'm having a problem finding it for sale from anywhere in Europe, let alone the UK. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

...with some absolutely wild alto sax solos by the underrated and under-recorded Boyce Brown.

Have you tried Amazon? It's on several of their European sites, including co.uk.

I bought it directly from Rivermont through their website.
