But Few Applauded These Hidden Figures This article, which appeared in today's Times is a little bit a book review of Sophisticated Giant, but mostly a look at Maxine Gordon and women "doing their work — the kind that has been done by essential figures off the bandstand to keep the jazz ecosystem healthy since its earliest years, typically without historical recognition."
