At my request, Jim S. has removed the word "obscure" from the thread title. Who knows what's obscure? I sure don't.

Fred Anderson - Marilyn Crispell - Hamid Drake: Destiny (Okka Disk)

Oh yes. My introduction to both Drake and Anderson.

Okka Disk was a great label

The group is no longer really "obscure", but these, their first three records, are. none have been on CD?

All three are superb.

Absolutely agree on the first and third. Would love to hear the second but it's not easy to come by the last time I looked

I only have a cheap, hissy cassette dub of an LP. I hope it still plays, I'm afraid to find out!

I'm surprised it's not available for streaming, Everything is, or soon will be!

Culver is an excellent trombonist; Rigby (with Cameron Brown and Gerald Cleaver) is an up-and-coming tenor man; Cyrille needs no introduction.

I bought Culver's I'm Old Fashioned a few years ago for $1.  It is an understated gem and probably the only trombone/piano/bass album in my collection.

Two more I heartily recommend:

Maybe I went through too fast, but no Jimmy Giuffre?  We have horn, guitar, bass; also Giuffre, Brookmeyer, Hall (two horns and guitar).  There is the somewhat similar News for Lulu (Zorn, Lewis Frisell).
