mjzee
I'm enjoying the Piatigorsky RCA/Columbia box. But a little sleuthing revealed an album that's missing from the box. There was an album of Beethoven cello sonatas that Piatigorsky recorded with the pianist Solomon (not sure why he went by only one name...maybe he was very wise). It was released in America on RCA, but the rights were retained by EMI. Currently, it's available on a Testament release. There was a similar situation with the Rubinstein box. Although it was very comprehensive (Sony even licensed Rubinstein's early EMI recordings for the box), it left out the Moscow concert. I guess they couldn't secure rights from Melodiya.
