SOLD FELA The Complete Works of Fela Anikulapo Kuti 26CDS/1 DVD

Continuing with assisting Freejazz with the CD collection liquidation..
He is a meticulous audiophile type so all box sets are well cared for and from smoke free home. I spot checked these and don't see any marks on any discs but for now will conservatively grade all sets as VG+ though other will rate them higher (like NM-)

Massive box set of the Nigerian superstar's massive output.

Great high energy/politically charged Afropop.
I believe there are 46 total albums compiled on the 26 CDS. Plus a DVD of concert footage and other material.

Hard to find and out of print too!
Box set is like new; most CDs look unplayed.
I'll call it near mint.

$189 plus $6 shipping media mail

Thanks again

More details

this is Black box edition, not the newer and much pricier (and out of print)  Red Box.

2010 Wrasse Records edition, licensed from Knitting Factory

This is such an excellent set. I had a half dozen of the albums and a four CD collection of Fela's work before I sprung for this set. I was impressed by the high level of consistency with his music.Wonderful stuff. Highly recommended.

Sort of tempting, but I have to confess all the Fela I've ever heard has been via steaming through Pandora.

26 CD's would be a rather enormous "first ever purchase" of a particular artist.

It would also most likely be the "only ever purchase", because once you get into one record, you will keep buying more. Trust me on this one. I bought Zombie on LP back in the day when Mercury put it out and...yeah. One was not enough.

Some of those live 20+ minute jams will definitely get your motor running.  There's an energy and forward momentum there that is genuinely unique.  Tony Allen is one of the best drummers most have never heard of.

This and James Brown's Startime are two of the great box sets ever assembled.

Gone back and forth a dozen times since yesterday about buying this.

If so, my first ever purchase of Fela would be 46 albums, all in one big bang.

Well, that's like, about $3.99 an record, 1972 prices!

And you know, just because you buy them all at once, you don't have to listen to them all at once. 26 CDs, pick a "Fela Day each month and then you got music for the next 2+ years.

But I dare you to just play one a month. Go ahead, try.
