RiRiIII
I contacted them and they wrote me that the book is sold out. They hope for a paperback in 2021.

Perhaps this is a taster for a longer play/drama feature? I found this to be very depressing. To read about how tough this era was is one thing but to see it acted out... ugh. This was probably happening all over the US too.

jazzbo
I'd jump on this if interested--only 500 supposedly. https://www.dustygroove.com/item/975757

Of historical significance, definitely worth having (recording from Ron Mathewson’s archive).
romualdo
Just found the Jazz In Britain site while searching for the Hayes double CD & to my dismay there have been two Joe Harriott (Vinyl only & digital download) releases in the past 6 months (since July 2020) & have already sold out (what do you expect with runs of 250 & 350). I can't believe it - they could at least pressed 500 to 1000. Really bummed out here. Surprised these releases were not mentioned on this site (or did I miss it?) https://jazzinbritain.org/product/chronology-live-1968-69-joe-harriott/ https://jazzinbritain.org/product/the-michael-garrick-septet-featuring-joe-harriott-at-short-notice/
sidewinder
They are a very small operation so just a limited number pressing on vinyl is probably a challenge. Also, few shops stocked them and most sales were through Bandcamp. Plus considering that there is a major pandemic on, they are doing well to get any releases out. Niko
On the plus side, they did break into the worldwide top five of labels to watch for archival jazz releases during the pandemic... also learned that the hard way after some stuff was sold out but now I've subscribed their newsletter so I don't miss anything... sidewinder
Hopefully they will re-press the first Ray Russell. Just heard that Vol 2 vinyl of ‘Ray Russell Live’ will be issued this Spring.

I think I'll have to pass on the vinyl.

Subscribe (£24 for a year), download (as they are released) & burn to CDr (AIFFs) - that's what I've been doing with most of the JIB releases

So how do you do that? On Bandcamp or on their own site, where I searched but didn't find any such possibility? I ask because I'm in your same position: immensely interested in their output, but lacking any insights. I got around and ordered Tubby's Free Flight and got it today. Will listen to it in the following days. There was also a compilation I was interested in, and which I would have got with the Tubby, but it was vinyl only. And since I'm a CD guy and don't even own a turntable I passed. It was called Into the archives, and contained, I imagine, a number of representative acts from that time. Niko
hmm have you tried clicking "follow" on the right on bandcamp? I guess I clicked that I want to receive their newsletter when I first ordered something via bandcamp... but not sure anymore... you could also just email them, I am sure they are happy to help? Or you could download one of their "name your own price" albums for a few cents to see whether there is the option to register for a newsletter? This one for example: https://jazzinbritain.co.uk/album/live-in-london-81-the-ron-mathewson-tapes-vol-
Bluesnik
Thanks, Niko. I haven't tried Bandcamp, just their website and it appears from there there is no possibility of subscribing. But I'll try your recommendations. Thanks.
