David Ayers
You read correctly! Great way to enjoy CDs anywhere and even the occasional cassette. Recently acquired. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?

Kevin Bresnahan
Cassette? Ok. I have one of these: It's the best sounding boombox I've ever owned. However, these days, I use a Bose Soundlink II Color and my cell phone for listening to tunes on the back deck: This little sucker sounds great to my old ears. I play either MP3 files from my SD card or the XM radio app.
David Ayers
The boom box I bought sounds ok, quite musical for anything less than a full orchestra. Vocals come across well. The main advantage is the mobility, though it gets a bit lost in larger spaces. I also use a Bose Soundlink which sounds just fine for what it is, better than the boom box by a margin. The Soundlink, by contrast, is musical and involving - quite amazingly so. And the boombox only cost me £44...
