sidewinder
This upcoming auction on behalf of the Estate of the late critic Barry McRae May be of interest - lots of rare LPs, many signed plus Mosaic sets and CD batches. https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/05/21/bazzers-bounty/

Some real choice offerings there, put me down for that ‘Tubby’s Groove’. Barry McRae used to do that ‘Avant Courier’ column in Jazz Journal. Almost a bastion of modern/free jazz at the time when the rest of the mag was largely fixated on traditional and mainstream. Kevin Bresnahan
There is really no rhyme or reason to the way the auctioneers divided up this collection and in most cases, their starting price is way too high for what little information they offer in the description. I also have to wonder if they even understood what they have, as they label some records and CDs as "rare" while actual rarities are not listed as such. This is bumming me out a bit as it makes me think that this is what my collection will look like when my wife auctions it off after I'm gone. mjazzg
I could spend a LOT of money on 6th June... And some seem to have been designed purely to prevent me buying the one in the bundle I don't have...
sidewinder
What that collection probably needed was one of us to ‘curate’ the sale (hate that damn word but that is what is probably required in this case). It would be nice to know a bit more about condition as well. Not sure I like all that labelling and numbering on the LH side of a lot of the titles. They did a similar bundling exercise some years ago when the late Miles Kington’s jazz collection was auctioned. I used to see him ‘hold court’ in the late lamented jazz specialist shop in Bath (he lived locally).

At some of those prices I'd be looking for a 100% seller feedback score on other sites. It's not as if they'll take a return if their grading is off either. Anyone out there know how well Mr.McRae looked after his collection? As for the pricing, looks a lot like they've done a trawl of Discogs certainly for the items I'd be interested in - not overly outrageous but pitched the reserve at the top end of the Discogs scale I'd say. kh1958
This addition to a winning bid was not very appealing. Buyers Premium23.34% + VAT (28% inclusive)
sidewinder
The Auction sale results are now in. No bargains on the LPs, some hefty prices on the CD bundles and some nice deals on the Mosaics ! https://bid.omegaauctions.co.uk/m/view-auctions/catalog/id/84?page=

sidewinder
Those Coltrane and Dolphy LPs fetched a high price - certainly no rarities.
