Herbie Nichols - Love, Gloom, Cash, Love

Searching on that same ISBN number alone sometimes brings up other Japanese sites with the same product. And doing that, each search hit I’m finding only lists the same 10 tracks as always (presumably).

Even this 2017 listing on discogs (with the prior mastering, from which this new 2020 is taken/shares) - again, on discogs, under the ‘notes’ section it says “with bonus tracks” - but then it ONLY lists the same 10 tracks as all the prior releases...

Some (many? - all?) of the search hits above might pertain to the 2017 reissue (this next one does for sure), so it may share the same ISBN number with this new release. But since the discogs site clearly says “bonus tracks” for the 2017 issue, but then DOESN’T list any actual new bonus material - I would greatly doubt there actually is any real bonus on the new 2020 edition.

Same here.

More hits with that same ISBN number, that list the song titles...

You get the idea.

None of that “proves” anything about the new 2020 reissue, but a lot of circumstantial evidence for there not really being more than 10 tracks on it, imho.

Reissue in UHQCD format. Features 24bit digital remastering in 2017. Comes with bonus track(s), lyrics, and a description written in Japanese. This series features the albums with the following product numbers: CDSOL-45501 through CDSOL-45530. *UHQCD (Ultimate High Quality CD) is an upgraded version of HQCD, a high fidelity CD format developed by Memory-Tech.

This sounds like it could be  ageneric description of whatever series this one's a part of?

Start at this link, and then change the last digit of the URL, going from 2 all the way up to 30, and there they all are.

Ok, once you hit 10, change the last 2 digits in the url. When you get to  https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/CDSOL-45530 you'l have seen them all.

The story has always been that the 6 extra tunes were lost. The titles did not come out of the blue. The sheet music for a couple of these just recently turned up. Is it possible they never actually got recorded at the session and were just on a list - yes.

If they had been found and slapped on to a reissue, I hope the word would have gotten out.

This does seem to be a generic description.

I have seen Japanese reissues that do not list the bonus tracks on the cover, e.g. Duke Pearson's Angel Eyes.

I saw the Nichols CD in France, considered getting an upgrade even though no bonus tracks were listed, and decided against it. My experience with the Pearson had made me wonder. Then I saw this listing yesterday which made me wonder even more.

Ideally, someone on the board would have bought this, but apparently not.

That is my recollection.

I may have not made it clear, but I bought this and it has no bonus tracks. As I said above some of the titles issued in this series have bonus tracks,  this title has not.

Oh, I did not understand that you had bought it. So that settles that.

I do not expect a reissue any time soon, and even less for the bonus tracks to ever surface. I don't even know who has access to the vaults.
