According to Vincent Pelote's liners for the GRP Decca Jazz issue of the Andy Kirk cd "Mary's Idea," the soloists on the title track recorded December 1938 are Ted Donnelly (twice), trombone; Clarence Trice, trumpet; Williams, piano; and John Harrington, reeds.

Gang,

I'm trying to identify the soloists on the 1938 version of Mary Lou Williams' "Mary's Idea" recorded by Andy Kirk and Clouds of Joy. Does anyone have an issue that these who they are? Many thanks in advance.

The 1993 GRP/Decca CD of the same name identifies the soloists as trombonist Ted Donnelly (twice), trumpeter Clarence Trice, Williams on piano, and John Harrington.
