sad news from his colleagues -- the great pianist Bobby Few has died in Paris at age 85. I was just thinking about him the other day as I went back through a tape of an interview I did with him, wherein he played as we chatted over the phone. Really nice guy and an amazing player -- saw him twice, once in duo with Avram Fefer and once in a quartet led by Noah Howard. The Frank Wright/Center of the World recordings he participated in are desert island discs for me. Ditto his work with Steve Lacy. RIP.

Sad! I will be looking out for obituaries in the French Press tomorrow (will be getting Libé). Loved his playing. I would be very interested in reading more about his path. Very lucky to have seen him twice in Paris, once with the Arkestra and another time, with Rasul Siddik, Harry Swift and William Hooker. Both memorable moments!

Good article and playlist by Pierre Crépon on The Wire, Steve Lacy is to be trusted on Few:
