GA Russell
David Sills Double Guitar Quintet----------------------------------------- --------------Natural Lines ------------------------------- “A truly fantastic work & nice mix of moods, The players really swing on the uptempo numbers. Sills & company deliver on this superb product." D.Glenn Daniels "Sills is a wonderful player & composer with a striking band on this strong bop-laced date… It's a marvelous recording of great appeal with superior musicianship and strong material.” Ron Weinstock - In a Blue Mood ___________________________________________________________________________ A main-stay on the LA jazz scene since the mid-’90s, Sills original style & sound embrace jazz tradition, while staying true to his individual voice. David’s 17th album features seven original compositions as well as tunes by Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Jimmy Davis, Alan Broadbent and two of Sills’ accompanists, guitarists Larry Koonse and Mike Scott. The Sills’ group has a tight, cohesive sound. Together, Scott and Koonse create a rich, beautiful rhythm section, along with Tim Pleasant on drums and Blake White on bass. They become a cohesive palate where Sills can paint his silky, smooth tenor saxophone sound. “Natural Lines” is a new adventure, featuring his double guitar quintet and offering us a dozen well-played songs for our listening pleasure. David Sills: tenor saxophone/alto flute; Mike Scott & Larry Koonse: guitars; Blake White: bass; Tim Pleasant: drums. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Minor Monk 5:28 Sync or Swim 6:08 Sonny's Side 6:08 Quiet is the Star 6:51 Loverman 9:15 Foggy Daze 5:35 Mellow Stone 5:24 Nardis 7:40 Jones' Tones 7:19 All the Little Things 2:42 Outside Corner 4:05 Interplay 6:
