Just back from "a three hour tour" for shot #2.
I'm already in my pj's waiting for the effects to kick in.
Mentioned to the woman who gave me the shot that it's
a double-edge sword kinda thing and she told me that I
could always just take something like Ibuprofen, etc.
That comment surprised me coming from her because that's
exactly what you don't want to do - about a week before and after.
You gotta do the homework these days for situations where others haven't.

The CDC says you can take Ibuprofen afterward, but not before.

That's what I thought.

Women should hold off on mammography for several weeks after the vaccination, because axillary lymph nodes might get temporarily enlarged leading to all sorts of unneeded evaluations.

If you have to take something afterwards,
acetaminophen is better because it doesn't
alter your immune response. Painkillers
that you use for inflammation constrain the
immune response and so are antithetical to
what you are trying to achieve with the vaccine.
If your doctor insists that you have to take them
(for instance, for migraines), then, yes, but otherwise,
use cool washcloths - and if none of your washcloths are cool,
then a square one will do fine.

Vaccines ain't 100%

The Super of my co-op building just came down with COVID. So much for repairs for a while...

This is getting to be a big problem. I work with a guy whose Uncle came down with Covid about a month after his second shot and he's upset because he thought he was supposed to be immune.

This vaccine will not make you immune. You'll be more resistant and if you do catch it, there is a lot less chance of it being severe but you can still catch Covid and even more importantly, you can still transmit it to others.

Everyone needs to mask up and keep their distance until this is over. Unless we slow down new cases, it'll never end, vaccine or no vaccine.

Maine had 579 new cases yesterday, their highest total since the February peak days. There are over 100 people hospitalized and they're talking again about how many beds and ventilators are available. We seem to be slipping back into the dark days of February.

And yet New Hampshire's governor just eliminated their mask mandate effective today.

History will record the suicidal hubris of a people who think that the absolutism of nature will bend to their various abstract intellectual constructs of "liberty".

Yeah. That.

Unfortunately, it won't only be suicidal hubris.  It will likely be homicidal hubris as well -- even if it's unintentional (in any given particular case) and un-traceable.

Leaving in a few for my second Moderna at Publix. At the time I got thru to get an appointment, I didn't even think about the fact that it was end of month for both of them, when my current gig gets pretty bad because everyone wants their loans closed before end of month.

So I really hope that once again I only have the shoulder discomfort and this doesn't trigger any sort of flu-like symptoms to keep me away from my desk. I don't want any loans pushed off to May since my bonus is dependent upon volume of loans closed/funded.

I had my second Phizer shot and thought I avoided any side effects because I still felt fine ~24 hours after the shot. Then I suddenly didn't feel so good. Tired, body aches & and a low-grade (100.5) fever. Drank a big glass of water, took some ibuprofen and napped on the couch. About 6 hours later, I was back to normal.

The company where I work just announced that starting next Tuesday, June 1st, anyone who has been vaccinated can shed their mask and no more 6 foot keep-out circles. So how will they know who is vaccinated and who is not? They are requiring everyone to register their status (with HR - no one else will know).

I am still wondering how they are going to enforce this. I can almost guarantee that the ones who have refused to get a vaccine will be the same ones who will refuse to admit it or they will lie about it. I also know for certain that they will also refuse to wear a mask because they try to do it all the time already.

I wonder if my company has the cahones to stand up to them? We shall see.
