trane_fanatic
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8521718/ Has anyone else seen this Hulu film? It is a bit of a mess direction wise, but R&B singer Audra Day does a fine job as Lady Day,.

bertrand
The film is a mess, and her performance is a mess too. And the sex scenes are EMBARRASSING.
Larry Kart
"And the sex scenes are EMBARRASSING." Was Roy Harte a consultant?
hopkins
I have not seen the movie, and probably won't as the reviews are poor. The day Andra Day got her award I had the urge to write a very modest "hommage" to share my love of Billie Holiday on another site I'm a member of (audio stuff). What a singer! https://audiophilestyle.com/blogs/entry/806-lady-day/ Edited May 12, 2021 by hopkins

Teasing the Korean
Just now, Larry Kart said: They were a couple at one point, and Harte later on volunteered much detail about Lady Day's sexual tastes. OK, thanks. Didn't know that!
jazzbo
Harte was one of the ones interviewed by Kuehl in the research that serves as the basis for this film. (I have not yet seen the film).

bertrand
It could well be that Billie was a bit on the wild side, but there is no reason an actress should be asked to debase herself to replicate this part of Billie's life. It is one of the things that prompted me to give up on film as an art form, films have become soft core or even hardcore porn films. In a Lubitsch film, when a couple is about to do the deed, they draw the curtains. That's all we need to see. That was art.
