clifford_thornton Posted December 21, 2021 Report Share Posted December 21, 2021 Sad to report that the bassist Hakim Jami died on December 19 here in Kingston, NY. He was around 80 years old (I don't have a birthday handy, if anyone does that would be a help). He had a stroke a while back and was struggling, though apparently still playing privately. He was a major part of the lofts in NYC during the 1970s, and recorded with among others Archie Shepp, Ted Daniel, Don Cherry, Ken McIntyre, Roland Alexander, Sun Ra, and Hilton Ruiz. RIP.
