THE JAZZ HALL OF FAME IS A BAD AND STUPID IDEA. RE: YOUR LIST, ALL OF THE ABOVE QUALIFY. WITH JAZZ MUSIC, TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD MAJOR IMPACTS ON THE GENRE. A TRUE HALL OF FAME WOULD READ LIKE LON ARMSTRONGS LP COLLECTION- AND WHAT WOULD THE POINT BE, IF EVERYONE IS IN IT. ON THE OTHER HAND, IF ONLY A FEW PEOPLE ARE IN IT, IT IS BAD AS WELL AS OTHERS ARE LEFT OUT. SO EITHER WAY ITS A REALLY BAD IDEA. ITS NOT LIKE ROCK WHERE THERES A SELECT NUMBER OF BANDS THAT STAND OUT ABOVE THE REST THAT CAN BE INCLUDED IN A HALL. YOU GUYS BETTER DROP THIS ISSUE SO NO ONE GETS CRAZY IDEAS.

The list came from a web site. I don't agree with it entirely.

Tom's list doesn't really any sense because they all belong in the Hall of Fame.

Perhaps we should turn the question around and say who is the most influential person in the history of jazz (or perhaps three people)?

That's a very easy answer: it's Pops. Again, if you choose the top 3, it's also very easy, Pops, Ellington and Bird.

After that it gets harder.
