"Forward Motion" and "Practice and Performance Goals for the Jazz Improvisor" were especially interesting essays. The little bit of work I did on that concept actually helped me quite a bit. Another good article was My Time With Cannonball. I have yet to pick up his book on how to put together tours; perhaps when it looks like I might actually go on tour I'll grab a copy. Joe G Posted February 13, 2008 Report Share Posted February 13, 2008 Got a copy of Hal's book "Forward Motion" this last week. I give it a very high rating (although the proofreader gets low marks). I've been working out of it myself as well as bringing the material in for my students. Lots of small ideas with big implications, very clearly presented.
