i was very lucky today and found some stuff i was looking for for decent prices and pretty reasonably priced via ebay, gemm and early records.

i picked up-

motohiko hino-first album

tony oxley-baptised traveller

terumasa hino-hogiuta

air (the japanese group with yuji imamura)-s/t

mikio masuda-mickey's mouth

paul jeffrey-paul jeffrey's electrifying sounds

terumas hino-double rainbow

i had money in my paypal and kept getting tempted to pull the trigger on stuff i didn't really want so now i am glad i waited!

Picked up the following while on vacation:

Gigi Gryce -- and the Jazz Lab Quintet

Benny Carter -- Jazz Giant (K2 version)

Sonny Stitt -- 12!

Jimmy Heath -- Nice People

Dave Santoro -- Standards Band II

Phil Woods & the Festival Orchestra -- Celebration

Phil Woods Quintet -- Mile High Jazz - Live in Denver

Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz (couldn't resist replacing my old vinyl set -- found each of the five

CDs separately and the book (no box) which cost me a total of less than $10 :) )

Andrew Speight -- Speight

Cannonball Adderley -- Sophisticated Swing: the Emarcy Small Group Sessions

The Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Project -- Simpatico

All but the last two were used at nice prices.

Then when I got home, my second Concord order was waiting for me with another 30 + CDs. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Didn't buy them, but thought lovers of trad jazz/swing might be interested in these new IAJRC releases:

Yes! I have them in my wish list.

Yes, these and 300+ titles. :(

I still have a "general jazz next purchases list" that I prepared some two years ago with more than 1.500 CDs... but lately I prepare "partial" lists (artist by artist, style by style, label by label...) and go hunting budget prices and offers in on-line stores.

The postman brought me a couple of goodies yesterday

This completes my Grant Green collection. Actually, while I like the instrumentals fine, most of the vocals feature precisely the kind of singing that I can’t abide.

Extreme groovathon. Excellent stuff. Some very interesting songs.
