Ooof, knew about the co-leader date with Jackie; embarrassed to not know the others.

To support my local record store (Record Den!) Don Ellis Orchestra LP with that crazy fraction on PJ and Joe Zawinul, The Rise and Fall of the Third Stream with Money in the Pocket as a bonus LP (Rhino). Bought my daughter the latest Def Tones record.

Don Ellis: Pieces of Eight Live at UCLA

Roland Kirk: Original Album Series (Atlantic)

Per Discogs, it was recorded at Olivia Davis' Patio Lounge, Washington, D.C. on December 7, 1956.  Vol. 1 of 4; issued on Pablo Live.

I now have vols. 1 to 3.

Still need vol. 4.  ;)

Love that Hawes album cover!

Today, I treated myself to the Contemporary Ornette twofer and Blakey in Tokyo.

Globe Unity Orchestra And Guests – Pearls (FMP, 1977)

Brought from Atlantis records in Hackney. The owner claims it came from Evan Parker's collection and that he buys from him occasionally. Had a nice chat.

Nice album.

Owner is John Coxon from Spring Heel Jack and Treader so I think those claims are very likely true. I have a couple of ex-EP's from there too. It's such a mad shop, stock everywhere from so many genres, a bit of a treasure trove

He mentioned that he "played a bit of guitar".

I'm such a fool.

Well, I'm not sure he's been very high profile recently so I think you can give yourself a pass.  I used to see him play regularly with SHJ and EP 15-20 years ago

Not a purchase, but I've just found a massive box if my late father in law's records. Some great stuff in there, that will be finding its way to a new home. As someone who grew up with no music in the house I can't really imagine what it would have been like to have been surrounded by it.

Riki - Gold (Dais). During one of Bandcamp's sales, I liked the samples of this synth-pop singer so I picked up the vinyl. Reminds me a bit of an 80's rock band.

From Richmix Records in Brixham. First time I'd visited it. The owner, Roger, is a fan of 70s rare groove type jazz and, oddly, collects Mainstream. I'd recommend it to anyone finding himself/herself in South Devon.

Picked these up from a small local record store here in SF. Mostly sealed between $3-10. Supposedly from Orrin Keepnews' estate.
