EVAN PARKER & PAUL LYTTON: THREE OTHER STORIES (1971-1974) (EMANEM).

I had this in a CD-R. Find a a copy for an honest price (11 euros).

But to say the truth, my CD-R sounds better than the original CD from whom it has been duplicate.

And it's not the first time that happens.

Various Artists - The Story of Bossa Nova

This is a Brazilian compilation EMI put out in 2000 on the Odeon label there and on the Hemisphere label here. Some tracks are from the sixties, and some are new. I haven't figured out which yet. A few famous names, like Joao Donato, Walter Wanderley and Marcos Valle, but mostly people I'm not familiar with.

At the FNAC on the Rue de Rennes but they had a very meager range on sale today. Less than fifty CDs plus DVDs there. Don't want to disappoint you but I'm pretty sure all the stuff is gone by now. And they don't make a big thing of the jazz sales. Had to ask for the items on sales to find the small display!

Okay, so I did get something on sale, but not really in the range I was thinking. But I was so excited to see it, I couldn't pass up.

Sanhedrin - Masada (1994-97 - The Unreleased Studio Recordings)

I unequivocally love Masada, and have most of the studio records, so as far as I'm concerned (and based on the evidence of the live discs), 2 discs worth of alternate takes/extras is money well spent. Can't wait to dig in.

Shelly Manne and his Men - At the Black Hawk, vol. 1

Listening to it now.  Picked it up based upon the good reviews of this series I read here.

You need to get the other 4 volumes. All 5 together make for an amazing and fulfilling listening experience (assuming you like straight-ahead jazz). :tup:tup:tup
