George Coleman - Amsterdam After Dark

Johnny Coles - New Morning

I'm familiar with almost everything Coleman recorded as a leader and IMHO "Amsterdam After Dark" is one of his best recordings ever.

"New Morning" is also one of my favorites.

Nice find. I'm under the impression that this one is long OOP.

Today, a pretty lucky find myself:

Mick Goodrick-In Pas(s)ing-ECM Amazon list some pretty crazy prices in the $150 range, found this copy for $8.

Yes, but the fact that a copy of "Linear B" turned up in the used shoppe might indicate an upcoming reissue?

Not that I knew, but often that seems to be the case... I find some rare or OOP stuff and soonafter, a reissue is out.

The Goodrick is good - got the LP some months back.

I've heard the Coles before... but just gave the Coleman a first spin tonight - excellent, as you say! Hilton Ruiz' playing is outstanding, too!

Got my Mosaic order today... had to pay taxes but only for the value they put onto the declaration

Argo, EmArcy and Verve Small Group Buddy Rich Sessions

The Complete Roulette Sarah Vaughan Sessions

The Complete Roost Johnny Smith Small Group Sessions

John Carter & Bobby Bradford - Mosaic Select

One of the Rich discs has a crack or some manufacturing error... it was sealed of course, so it's hardly anyone's blame. Never had this before, had small bubbles in the CD layer or scratches, but this one goes right through and is visible both from front and back... possibly it might have been caused by the strain from the spine? The discs would hardly get off once more... anyway, I'm glad I checked them all closely and spotted this in time before it might too OOP!

Does anyone know the percentage of Euro sets with the Rich? It was planned to arrive at 10'000 units, mine is just #2725, so that would mean Mosaic have sold around 3000, most likely? I doubt that there were 7000 euro sets, as this was one of the more elusive ones over here... so this was likely not as good a seller as they'd hoped for.

Anyway, there are lots of sessions here that look mighty tempting, and other than "Buddy & Sweets", it's all new to me!

Mine arrived today too ! No tax on mine, fortuitously (and it was just the one set and a couple of singles).

Quite right that they tax the Gnomes of Zurich :g

My Rich set is #2753 by the way. So likely the number of 'real' Mosaics of this one was less than 2800 and the number of 'Euro' sets probably comparable, I guess. Around 5,000 out of a 10,000 'theoretical' run?
