Basie/Me and You on Pablo

Listened to this LP 3 or 4 times over last few days.

Wondering if others have noticed same things I have.

Engineer David Sands really nailed this one as far as I'm concerned.

It's dynamic!! Almost too dynamic.

Man, it's close to being there.

Super soft solos then the full band kicks in HARD. I love it. It's like I'm in the middle of the band.

Should be able to find this cheap.

Haven't heard it, but I'll pick it up. Thanks for the recommendation. Folks will definitely be able to find it cheap. I don't know if there is a specific reason for it, but Pablo LPs are never much $$.

I dont know this one but Basie's "I told you so" Pablo set is excellent with amazing sound. The Pablo LPs that I've come across ( all UK pressings) all seem very nicely recorded and super quiet vinyl. Visually these releases lost a lot in the down sizing to the CD format.

I definitely agree - that whole series of Pablo lps with the full cover photos in b&w are classics!

After reading this thread I dug out my copy of "Me and You" . I Have to say you are right on . The sound is outstanding as well as the blowing . Some of the best recorded big band sounds to be heard . Thanks for reminding me just how good this record is.
