How's the weather?

Recommended Posts

I checked out the evacuated area on Street View. Very recently built. The locals say that moorland fires are almost a yearly occurrence, though not as serious as this, of course. Just another case of present-day house building in areas (cf. flood plains) that the "ancients" in their wisdom wouldn't touch?

Was just about to post that Sidewinder.

Sounds fairly grim, described on Manchester Evening News website as the "biggest fire in living memory"

Biggest fire since ‘The Crazy World of Arthur Brown’.

Incredible weather we are having down here - just too bad that work coincides with it..

This morning's Stagecoach driver was suitably shorted, so perhaps the battle has been fought and won.

A victory for common sense!

We've been allowed to wear shorts at work this week too, first time in my 31 years of work.

Still boiling in Manchester btw

Apropos of nothing in particular: Arthur Brown went to the same school as me, as did The Magnificent Goldberg.

I knew Arthur Brown at school, but didn't know Goldberg.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Arthur Brown and Ed Dipple..(but not MG)

Pretty amazing !

incidentally - that AB ‘Fire’ performance when broadcast on Top Of The Pops (1967/68?) scared the beejeesus out of me, back in the day

Ed Dipple was a few years later - university, not school (along with Brian Priestley).

Now playing:

No rain here for ages and none on the horizon. In the forest some tree's leaves are turning yellow and falling to the ground. Not good.

Same situation all over Vienna since last week .... looks more like late September .....
