I had the pleasure of seeing him solo and with other groups a number of times, all excellent gigs. But perhaps the most interesting was running into him on the street in NY when I was younger. I said "Leroy Jenkins?" He was sort of surprised and was like "um, yes?" and I proceeded to follow him on his errands and talk about the music, and he graciously didn't shoe me away. I saw him a couple of times back in the day, solo and with the Revolutionary Ensemble. I bought "Swift Are The Winds of Life," his duo with Rashied Ali, from a table at Ali's Alley.
