  4. Bought it on bandcamp and listened today. Excellent music, really well recorded. Thank you! The artwork reminded me of Sven Gundlach's cover art for a Russian band Vezhlivy Otkaz: https://www.discogs.com/master/322383-Вежливый-Отказ-Вежливый-Отказ/image/SW1hZ2U6NDkyMzA2OA==
  5. Sorry - I just don't dig this new cover. UPS brown just doesn't cut it for me. I don't know why, but Blue Note seems to be purposefully re-doing almost every Patrick Roques cover. Joe Harley posts here occasionally... maybe he can tell us why this is? Does Blue Note not hold the copyright on those Patrick Roques Connoisseur covers?
  6. Rock or funk or R&B??? Now playing - Spring - Funkin With The Rhythm And Blues (Springs of Sound Music). I have no idea where I got this nor who "Spring" is. With this cover shot, I have to wonder if I'm his target audience. Funky stuff... maybe R&B. Fun either way.
  7. Hourly History eBooks are like magazine articles. When I was a toddler we lived in the area, and I remember routinely riding past the Bunker Hill Monument.

  11. And actually affordable. The last time Herbie played up this way, they were charging $300/ticket.
  12. He was right about the ubiquitous uncritical use of vibrato. I have many recordings he conducted, and saw him live with London Classical Player with the 3rd and 4th Brahms Sympjhonies. He way the first to have metronome markings in the liner notes. R I.P. Many thanks your pioneering work.
  13. Somehow I'd missed this one, and it arrived today

  15. It's on my to-read list! I'm currently reading "History of Jazz" by Ted Gioia (simply wonderful!), which I use to update all my entries. If I could recommend another excellent Italian book (written by Giorgio Lombardi, the guy who introduced concerts at the jazz club in Genoa, my hometown), it's "New Orleans Chicago New York," a magnificent history of the origins of jazz. Thanks for the recommendation, I really appreciated it. ciao!

  17. I did the same. It was nice to RVG the first round of Connoisseurs (Components and Empty Foxhole excluded) but I kept a few Conns over RVG treatment, e.g. McLean's Destination Out! (sounded good to me). I'm too, a fan of the BN 10'' Connies series and just added the Foster/Wallington set (thank you, John!) to that amazing batch; only missing the Gil Melle 2CD set, but I have a TOCJ copy of Patterns in Jazz, so I feel I have them all. 😁
  18. We already bought tickets, going to imagine it is going to sell out. https://www.clevelandorchestra.com/attend/concerts-and-events/2526/other-events/herbie-hancock/ Last major jazz performance I attended at Severance was Sonny Rollins in 2001. But wow, what a treat this is going to be!
  19. Last Thursday, return to Severance Hall to see: Beethoven, Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36, Stravinsky, Jeu de cartes & Ravel, Suite No.2 from Daphnis et Chloe. Franz Welser-Möst, conductor.
  20. You're speaking my mind, that is exactly what I want! 😎😁
