  2. Not Peacock, very very interesting comments about the pianist. Thanks!
  3. My computer sound is so bad that I thought it was a duet until the third listen 🤪...I was really taken by the piano, which vaguely reminds me of quasi-minimalist "classical" composers such as Howard Skempton (some of whose work I greatly enjoy, though I find him uneven). The saxist is pretty much in the ECM/"moody" bag, which generally doesn't engage me deeply, but this tune works well. I hesitate to comment on the bassist because I initially couldn't perceive him, but the knee-jerk guess is Gary Peacock, of whom I'm a fan.
  4. You will definitely know two of the three players, possibly all three. What is it about it that you like about it! Just curious.

  6. I loved #3. From the preceding discussion I can't imagine I own it, but I intend to research it out of curiosity.

  9. I love that recording, as well as all other Hausmusik CDs.
  10. I got to hear Ray Drummond in piano duos twice, with Billy Mays in 1990 in New Orleans and with Kenny Barron at Zinno in 1997. He was also a part of the jam sessions during the IAJE 2004 with James Williams and Ben Riley, I heard them backing Francesco Cafiso. He was also a delightful interview. RIP, Ray.

  17. RIP
  18. Although there doesn't appear to be any formal confirmation of this, he had been ill for quite a while, so it is not unexpected. I consider myself lucky to have seen so many Jazz greats - and Ray was one of them. He was a force on the bass. I've been meaning to pick up a few more of Ray's Arabesque CDs. I have "Vignettes" and it's really nice. I'll have to play that in his memory.
  19. R.I.P. Very sad; great bassist. I met his father once, who was very proud of his son.
  20. RIP.
  21. Sad News! He was a damn good bass player. I had the good fortune to see him play live quite a number of times. And as Mike said, I have him on numerous CDs including a few where he is the leader. Ray was also the co-leader on 4 or 5 trio CDs by The Drummonds with Billy Drummond and Renee Rosnes
